Our 6-year Wedding Anniversary

At the EMP Museum

Last Saturday we've celebrated our 6-year wedding anniversary. 6 years seems like a relatively short time, but it feels like we've been together forever. Our marriage has been productive & fruitful one as well. We've become a busy household with 2 dogs, 2 kids & another one on the way. :-)
To celebrate this special occasion, we wanted to go out somewhere special without the kids. So we hired our nanny Irina for the whole Sunday & headed out. We didn't have a solid plan since it was a cloudy & rainy day & this was one of the few times we could allow ourselves to be spontaneous.
First, we had a dim sum at the Jade Garden in Chinatown. Unfortunately, our outing coincided with Father's Day, so we've waited for over 1 hour to be seated. Nevertheless, the meal was delicious & well worth the wait. Since I've never been to the EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum, we went there next. The museum happened to host the Avatar exhibit, movie I enjoyed seeing, so we toured this exhibit along with learning more about the origins of the Nirvana & Jimi Hendrix. I wish we had more genuine interest in the Guitar Gallery, but we checked it out too. We finished the day with having some quiet time & reading newspapers at one of the coffee shops next to the KOMO 4 news station.

We did what we were supposed to do - have a date without the kids. Only later that evening, while pushing the stroller with Gerritt & Sophia during a walk with our dogs Sammy & Max, we realized we were the happiest being all together as a family. Just like our get away to Portland, a day full of seemingly exciting activities didn't bring us as much joy as seeing our kids' happy faces. My husband & I are definitely home buddies. Our life may not seem that exciting to some couples but what matters is that we are on the same page. We have eHarmony to thank & perhaps destiny?
