This blog was inspired by the upcoming birth of our 1st baby Gerritt. Its purpose is to keep our family members and friends informed of the events in our lives. I am a natural birth & attachment parenting advocate. I am a strong midwifery supporter, & after my son's unfortunate experience with circumcision, have become an intactivist. Merry Christmas!

After having filet mignon & prawn breakfast (!) & opening a few more presents left by Santa in the Christmas stockings on Christmas morning, we visited the Teddy Bear Suite at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Originally, we were planning to spend the day with Gerry & Chris, but had to make different plans after they unexpectedly left for home early due to Gerry's cold. It's always a struggle to find something to do on a major holiday since almost everything is closed. I suddenly remembered the Teddy Bear Suite highly recommended by my Facebook friend Carrie. I called, hoping, by a slim chance, that they were opened on Christmas Day. Sure enough, they were! We quickly dressed up & loaded everyone into the car excited to get out of the house, experience something new & to have an opportunity to take some amazing holiday photos.
The Teddy Bear Suite is opened for a little over a month every Christmas holiday season. It is designed by a Seattle-based interior & event designer, Kevin Bradford, & brims with dozens of fluffy teddy bears. The Suite did not disappoint. The combination of lights, decorations, colors & textures as well as teddy bears of all shapes & sizes was simply amazing! Gerritt & Sophia could not believe their luck & ran around in excitement. The only missing element was Christmas music, but even without the music, the trip was worth it. The admission was free, but we made a donation to the Children's Hospital. Perhaps another Christmas holiday tradition in the making for us!
Beautiful Sophia - she could almost be mistaken for a doll
